| Not taken this day...I am not sure where this was taken...Nice, though. |
We awoke today to a soaked woods. It rained overnight and the tent got soaked. Pretty bad. We got out and hiking at 8AM. Up and down and wet, no views, foggy. We got as far as Black Rock Shelter at 11AM just as it started raining again. We sat around waiting for the rain to stop. It never did. So here we are, planning to sleep in the shelter [which was not allowed except for "inclement weather"]. We are a full 12-13 miles from our assigned area according to our camping permit. We have company here, a south-bounder hiking from Connecticut to Georgia.
We were visited by 6 other hikers through out the afternoon, who all moved on. Still raining. Bummer. I played my new recorder all afternoon.
We have decided that after we get to Harpers Ferry we will make a short visit home, after which I will return to the trail, either going south and finishing the skipped sections or returning to Harpers Ferry to continue north alone. Rick is planning to get back on the trail in Connecticut and hike from there to Maine.
