Journal excerpts and photos of our Appalachian Trail hike of 1974...we did not complete the trail that year, but it was a very influential adventure, at least for me. A lot has changed in 40 years. There are thoughts of another Thru Hike attempt in the coming years. Will keep you posted.

Day 73 - Sunday, June 2, 1974 - Black Rock Leanto
We all woke up around 9:00 and it was pouring out, as it had all night long. We ended up staying at the shelter all day long, just watching the rain fall, playing recorders and harmonicas, reading books, and going crazy. Two guys stopped in out of the rain for lunch. Around 6PM another guy showed up to stay for the night. He popped up some popcorn for us all. Pretty dull day overall.
