This was not one of my better days. I have been feeling quite depressed and having doubts about hiking this part of the trail. I am struggling with it right now.
It was hot and humid and occasionally threatening rain. I went over a trail bridge across I-64 this morning. Ran into quite a few people. Had lunch at Pine Knob shelter. Ran into a hiker near the end of the day who kind of encouraged me to forget hiking through Pennsylvania and go on up to New England where there is something interesting besides long flat walks. I get so bored on this section of the trail. Uninteresting, no variety, hardly any scenery to speak of, very rocky foot way. All I see are trees, trees, trees!
I am staying at a new shelter (Hemlock Hill). No water. Very little in my canteen. Walked down to the road, which isn't too far away and up and down the road looking for a house where I could get some water. No luck. No one home. I'll have to make do with what I have, I guess.
