It rained all last night. After the ranger told us we couldn't sleep in the shelter, we all went out and set up our tents in the dark. Foggy, too. Hard to see where we were going and where we were even setting our tents up.
We got up around 6AM and went back to the shelter where we had a leisurely breakfast. Left before 8AM and hiked 2 miles out of the park and then down hill on a paved road. Civilization. Walked about 1/2 mile beyond the post office, which was hidden off a side road. Got a pile of mail. Also Mom sent us some Hobo bread and we got our new guide book. Went to a store and got supper for today, because we found that the next shelter is the last one for 22 miles. And that 22 miles is all on roads. Fun!
We climbed through heavy seasonal growth to Mosby Shelter and got very wet. The shelter is a mess. Supposedly has rats!
