Had a rough night. Couldn't get comfortable on those wire bunks. They were too short. Woke up before sunrise and I went up to the field on Walnut Mountain to watch the sun on the mountains to the west. Same spot where we watched the sun set behind the mountains last night. Leo's camera jammed just as the sun with touching the horizon last night.
Started hiking late again this morning, 10:00. Had another perfect day. Sunny, not too warm and clear. Didn't get too many views, but the trail was really nice. Passed by a really beautiful field right after leaving the shelter. Green with flowers and birds singing.
Hiked up for 2 1/2 miles with no views but easy hiking, and then down the other side of the mountain through all sorts of nice undergrowth and flowers just coming out. Spring has really sprung. Got to the shelter around 2:30. 9 1/2 miles in 4 1/2 hours with about an hour's worth of resting in there. We are doing better.
Finishing our food tonight. Tomorrow into Hot Springs to get a week's supply again. Back to heavy packs! I ran out of film today. Saw lots of good shots to take today, too.
