10.4 miles - 401.1 cumulative miles
Got up real early this morning and got started at around 7:15. Rick slept out on the ground last night. Full moon was pretty bright. Had mice running around the shelter all night, but they didn't get into anything. Had a real nice pink sunrise this morning.
We went real fast. Got to the state line quick. Now we are into Virginia and will be for quite a while. Got to Damascus around 11:00. Real nice trail from the shelter to town. Last mile was real fine, going through a beautiful farm. The views were fantastic. The hills are all covered with green now. Looks like summer down here. Still a difference from up on the mountains to down in the valleys.
Ran into Matt and Ted and Jim here. Tonight a whole gang of us - Matt, Ted, Gloria, Rick and Louise, Jim, Rick and I are all staying at the home of Bno [not sure how his name is spelled] and Mona. They are a young couple who just recently began taking in hikers and they charge $5 a night which includes dinner. Real loose and friendly place. I think we are going to enjoy this stay. May get together some pizza and beer tonight and sit around and party and pick and sing. Ted is real sick. Really bad. Hope he gets better soon and hope it isn't contagious.
Damascus is a great little town. Plenty of stores with all kinds of stuff. Not much was open this afternoon. They all take Wednesday afternoon off to go fishing, etc. Got our money, but not much other mail. Got to play a bit on a guitar here at the house. Pretty nice. Really relaxing. Going to spend tomorrow getting supplies, writing cards and letters and relaxing.
